Ace Outfitters offers guided mountain lion hunts in some of the most beautiful snow-covered country your eyes will ever see. Our outstanding elk and deer herds produce some of the best populations of cougars in the state. We hunt by 4WD trucks and snowmobiles, driving old logging roads in search of a respectable track. After locating the right track, we release the hounds and the chase is on! The bay of the hounds indicates a treed lion, and their bays will guide you to the tree. This is why it is important that you arrive in the best physical condition possible. This rugged terrain can be demanding, especially when snow covered. If you have never chased mountain lions with hounds, then you are in for the hunt of a lifetime.
Ace Outfitters conducts Idaho mountain lion hunts during the winter months of December and January, and occasionally into March. During these months, weather conditions are typically the best because we usually have snow on the ground. If snow conditions are favorable, success is near 100% with this Idaho hunting outfitter. Although we take many cougars weighing between 160-180 lbs, the average weight of a tom (male) is approximately 140 lbs. Regardless of the weight, the elusive cougar always makes exceptional life-sized mounts.
Ace Outfitters guarantees your license and mountain lion tag. We take limited numbers of mountain lion hunters per year, so reserve your dates early if you are considering this hunt. Cougar hunts are one hunter per guide. You are welcome to bring any desired weapon. Archery hunters, please review Idaho’s Equipment Restrictions provided on this website. Also, remember to practice shooting with your heavy winter clothing to make sure nothing will get in the way of your bow string.
